Important glands that produce parts of the tear film are located in the eyelid edge. If the excretory ducts of the glands are clogged, an important component of the tear film is missing.

During professional eyelid edge cleaning, 1-2 times a year, deposits on the eyelid margins are carefully and thoroughly removed with a special rotating medical sponge. Soaking and cleaning takes about 30 minutes.
